Shredded rotisserie chicken works wonderfully here. It adds flavor and saves time.
Any leftover roasted or baked chicken will work.
Deli ham
Thin slices of ham bring the classic cordon bleu flavor.
You can substitute turkey ham or smoked turkey if preferred.
Swiss cheese
Swiss cheese is traditional in chicken cordon bleu recipes because it melts beautifully and has a slightly nutty flavor.
Provolone or mozzarella can also be used.
