Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside — these Air Fryer Sliced Potatoes are everything you love about roasted potatoes, but faster, healthier, and even more delicious. If you’re craving a side dish that’s golden and crunchy yet soft and buttery within, this is the one you’ll find yourself making on repeat.
When I first started using my air fryer, I wasn’t sure if it could really match oven-roasted texture — but after just one batch of these potatoes, I was convinced. They come out evenly browned, perfectly seasoned, and surprisingly light, without all the extra oil or oven heat. Whether it’s breakfast with eggs, a busy weeknight dinner, or a backyard BBQ, these air-fried potato slices fit right in.
What I love most is their versatility. You can season them simply with salt, pepper, and garlic powder, or elevate them with smoked paprika, rosemary, or even a sprinkle of Parmesan. And because the air fryer works so efficiently, you’ll have them ready in under 20 minutes — no preheating your whole kitchen required.
This recipe has become one of my go-to sides for everything from grilled chicken to steak, and even brunch-style with a runny yolk on top. If you’ve ever wanted that “crispy but fluffy” potato perfection without deep-frying, you’re about to fall in love.
Ingredients
- 3 medium russet potatoes about 1 ½ lbs, thinly sliced (⅛–¼ inch thick)
- 1 ½ tablespoons olive oil
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ¼ teaspoon onion powder
- Optional garnish: chopped parsleyshredded parmesan, or flaky sea salt
Instructions
- Prep the Potatoes
- Wash and scrub the potatoes well. Slice them evenly into thin rounds (a mandoline helps for uniform thickness). Pat dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture—this ensures crisp edges.
- Season
- In a large bowl, toss the sliced potatoes with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, and onion powder until every piece is lightly coated.
- Arrange in the Air Fryer
- Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3 minutes. Arrange potato slices in a single layer in the basket — slight overlap is fine, but don’t overcrowd.
- Air Fry
- Cook for 9–10 minutes, then shake or flip the slices. Continue air frying for another 8–10 minutes until golden and crispy around the edges.
- Serve
- Sprinkle with fresh parsley or parmesan while still warm. Serve as a snack or a side with burgers, steak, or breakfast eggs.
