copycat texas roadhouse Blooming Onion Rings

Ingredients

  • Shredded fat free Cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup s
  • Meijer Reduced fat shredded colby Jack cheese
  • 1/2 cup s
  • G Hughes Original Sugar Free BBQ
  • Sauce
  • 3 Tbsp
  • cooking spray
  • 1 vidalia onion

Instructions

  1. Lightly spray your silicone with non stick…
  2. Shred whatever cheese you love… I like a fat free Colby Jack Mixture or cheddar for these…
  3. Put a light sprinkle in each ring… (don’t overdo it with the cheese. The first time I made these I put way too much cheese. You just want to lightly sprinkle it in the bottom… less is better in this one!) if you go to heavy on the cheese they won’t get crispy!
  4. Then I chop up a vidalia onion… (or use whatever onion you like maybe you like red onions or Spanish onions ) i’ve done this using whole onion rings, but the problem is the onion is all different sizes so you don’t get the perfect size to fit into the ring and I have found that chopping them up or putting them whole — once you bake them it all comes out the same anyway I actually prefer the chopped up ones!
  5. Then another light sprinkle of more cheese!
  6. Pop these into a preheated 375 degree oven for about 20 minutes!
  7. Every oven varies so after about 10 minutes check them every five minutes they’re going to start bubbling— you want them to get a nice light brown on them…
  8. Take them out and let them sit in the ring for about five minutes — then I flipped the ring out onto a paper towel and I let them sit out there for about 15 to 20 minutes and they get super crispy as they sit the paper towels sucks up all the grease and they become super crunchy!!
  9. I like to add barbecue sauce!
  10. I’ve done this with jalapeños, pickles, banana peppers… experiment with whatever YOU love!
