My first attempt at Air fried onion rings. The batter called for milk and I was out so I used buttermilk instead. These turned out SO good I can’t believe I made them.
Instructions
- 1 large onion, 1-1/4 c flour (divided), 1 tsp baking powder, 1 tsp salt, i large egg, 1 cup milk, 1 cup bread crumbs (I used Panko). Slice onions into 1/4 inch strips & separate. Place onion rings in 1/4 cup flour and coat well(I put them in a ziplock bag and shook well). Whisk egg, milk, baking powder & 1 Cup flour for batter. Add salt and bread crumbs in a 2nd bowl. Dip rings into batter then dredge them in the Panko crumbs. I spritzed bottom of fryer with vegetable oil and the tops of the rings. 380 degrees for 6-8 minutes. I flipped them over half way. I was out of regular milk so used buttermilk instead and they were so good. I’ll use buttermilk when I make these again.
